The Wonderful World of Watercolour
Join me for a comprehensive, relaxed and pleasurable day exploring the wonderful world of watercolour painting, set within the beautiful and iconic grounds of Broome Park Hotel in the heart of the Kentish countryside.
Whether you are a complete beginner or an intermediate artist, these sessions are designed to be enjoyable, inspiring and accessible to all abilities. Children aged 8 and upwards are also welcome when accompanied by an adult, making this a wonderful experience for families and friends to share.
All materials are supplied for the day, allowing everyone to work with the same high-quality paper, paints and equipment. My sessions are primarily focused on landscape and seascape painting, although, where time allows, I am always happy to explore other areas of watercolour.
With over 25 years of teaching experience, I have had the pleasure of teaching and inspiring well in excess of 1,000 students, including both adults and primary school children. Many of those students continue to paint with me today, which is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
My Artistic Journey
My own artistic journey began in the 1980s. Following a period of illness, I turned to painting purely as a form of therapy. I initially concentrated on wildlife subjects, particularly elephants and owls, and was delighted when my paintings began to sell rapidly.
Following a submission of my work to the Wildlife Art Society, I was accepted as a member. I subsequently exhibited at a number of local exhibitions, where my work sold regularly both in the UK and overseas, including to collectors in Australia and New Zealand.
I returned to full-time employment for a number of years, but in 2006 I was invited to begin teaching art classes for primary schools and adult groups. I have continued to teach regularly ever since.
Throughout my journey, I have been fortunate to work closely with my friend, mentor and internationally respected artist Steve Hall, whose guidance and encouragement have played an important part in my development as an artist and teacher.
More recently, limited-edition prints of my artwork Standing with Giants have been sold at the British Normandy Memorial, and my more recent artwork has also found its way into collections in France, including a recent purchase in Auxi-le-Château.
Stay, Paint & Enjoy
My Stay & Paint sessions at Broome Park Hotel are about much more than simply learning to paint. They are an opportunity to slow down, enjoy the surroundings, meet like-minded people and discover the pleasure of creating something of your own.
Whether you are picking up a paintbrush for the very first time or looking to develop your existing skills, you will be encouraged to work at your own pace in a friendly, relaxed and supportive atmosphere.
Come and join me for a unique watercolour experience – “Painting from the Heart” – in the heart of the beautiful Kentish countryside.
I look forward to welcoming you to Broome Park and sharing my passion for the wonderful world of watercolour.
